In 1890 Benjamin Harrison was president, Congress established Yosemite National Park, Idaho & Wyoming became the 43^rd & 44^th states, W. B. Purvis patents the fountain pen, the territory of Oklahoma was created and Timberlake's Pharmacy opened for business in downtown Charlottesville. Timberlake's is located on the pedestrian mall in downtown C'ville. Covering eight city blocks, Charlottesville's outdoor pedestrian mall is one of the longest and most successful in the country. Timberlake's is a working Pharmacy. Deviating from the norm, the Timberlake soda fountain is @ the very back of the store. The fountain offers favorites like: egg salad sandwiches, grilled cheese, tuna melts, blt's, pb and j, chili, etc. along with homemade cakes and pies. They also serve breakfast until 11:00am. Their fountain made drinks include: limeade, hand- squeezed lemonade, real vanilla Cokes, egg creams, cherry or chocolate Coke, orangeade, cherry smash and soda fountain mocha to name a few. I had a first-rate freshly-made egg salad sandwich on toasted and buttered white bread along with an outstanding hand-squeezed, perfectly sweet lemonade. The vanilla shakes are also very good. Enjoy!
