While traveling the back roads of Southwestern Tennessee, I found a
great roadside Q place just outside the city limits of Eastview. Pappy John's Barbecue, complete with a pea gravel lot and
pea gravel drive-thru, has been here for more than 40 years. You have your choice of the drive-thru or a small dining area
inside. Inside, you order and pay @ the counter. P.J's electrically cooks their pork shoulders and hams (primarily hams) with
hickory coals. I chose their pulled Q sandwich with beans and slaw on the side. The home-made baked beans and sweet slaw (consisting
of green and white cabbage with carrot shards) were both very good. My generous pulled pork sandwich was also very good and
was even better topped with some slaw from my side and a little of their sweet Q sauce. The hot Q sauce is in the ketchup
bottle and the sweet Q sauce is in the mustard bottle. And for a great regional treat try some of their barbecued bologna.
Elvis would be proud. Enjoy!
